Zahara, Milburn, Elfering named NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week

Brooks Bandits goaltender Zach Zahara and Chilliwack Chiefs forwards Brady Milburn and Caleb Elfering have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.

1st Star – Zach Zahara (G) – Brooks Bandits

Zahara started both games of the Bandits Interior Conference Finals matchup against the Penticton Vees and earned the win in both contests, totaling a combined 49 saves on 50 shots, earning a .980 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.

The 2005-born netminder made 30 saves in Brooks’ 2-1 win in Game 1 on Friday, then recorded his second shutout of the playoffs the following night in a 3-0 Game 2 victory where he made 19 stops.

Zahara leads the BCHL Playoffs in shutouts, while his 2.14 goals-against average is fourth best in the league.

2nd Star – Brady Milburn (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs

Milburn put up three points in two games last week with a goal and two assists over the first two games of Chilliwack’s Coastal Conference Finals matchup with the Victoria Grizzlies.

In Game 1 on Friday, the Kamloops, B.C. native picked up an assist on the lone Chiefs goal in Victoria’sĀ  2-1 win. On Saturday in Game 2, Milburn registered a goal and a primary assist, earning first star honours, as the Chiefs tied the series with a 5-2 win.

Milburn is now tied for second in playoff scoring with 17 points on seven goals and ten assists in 13 games.

3rd Star – Caleb Elfering (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs

Elfering matched his Chiefs teammate Milburn with a goal and two assists over the weekend.

On Friday night in Game 1, the Rochester Institute of Technology commit put home a rebound in the opening frame to score the first goal of the series. On Saturday night in Game 2, Elfering picked up two assists helping Chilliwack even the series with a 5-2 win.

The 20-year-old now has nine postseason goals, just one off the league lead, while his 13 points are tied for second on the Chiefs and top-10 in the BCHL.
